At a virtual event last week, Nokia launched three new smartphones and a classic device. HMD Global launched the Nokia 8.3 5G, Nokia 5.3, Nokia 1.3 and Nokia 5310 Classic. Now, it seems the company is only planning to bring two of these devices to the Indian market. Nokia 5.3 and Nokia 5310 Classic have already been listed on the India site. It seems the company might skip the Nokia 8.3 5G and Nokia 1.3 from the competitive smartphone market.
Nokia 5.3 is coming to India
There is a possibility that HMD Global might be looking to bring Nokia 8.3 5G to India at a later stage. With a global retail price of €599 (around Rs 47,794), the Nokia 8.3 5G might not stand a chance against iQOO 3 and Realme X50 Pro 5G. It makes sense for Nokia to offer more competitive device like the Nokia 5.3 in the cost conscious market. Nokia 1 series was never brought to India and so, the chances of Nokia 1.3 launching in India seemed slim from the start.
As Nokiapoweruser notes, there are no signs of listing for these two devices on the India website. Nokia 5.3 and Nokia 5310 are already listed on the website. BGR India has independently learnt that the company is looking to make official announcement soon. We might see Nokia 5.3 debut in India first alongside the classic Nokia 5310. HMD Global might follow up with the launch of Nokia 8.3 5G at a later stage.
In terms of specifications, the Nokia 5.3 features a 6.55-inch display and is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 SoC. It comes in three storage variants: 3GB + 64GB, 4GB + 64GB and 6GB + 64GB. In India, we are expecting to see only the 4GB and 6GB RAM variants. It sports a quad rear camera setup with 13-megapixel main shooter paired with a 5-megapixel ultra wide, a 2-megapixel depth and a 2-megapixel macro shooter. It packs a 4,000mAh battery and comes with a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. The smartphone is priced at €189 globally and we expect it to arrive in the sub-Rs 15,000 price segment.
