Reliance JioTV offering double the Live TV channels than Airtel Xstream

Reliance Jio’s entertainment app JioTV is now offering almost double the Live TV channels than Airtel Xstream. The JioTV platform now carries over 688 channels across 13 genres while the rival Airtel Xstream app has a collection of 380 channels. Jio added two more channels to its bouquet in past seven days. These two Live TV channels are 9x Jhakaas and Sangeet Marathi.

If we talk about the high definition (HD) TV channels then the differences between the two platforms JioTV and Airtel Xstream is big. JioTV offers 158 HD channels while Airtel Xstream hosts 64 channels, reports TelecomTalk.

In comparison, Jio carries more channels in almost every language including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam. The Hindi channel catalogue at JioTV includes 211 channels, while the Airtel Xstream hosts 107 Hindi channels on its platform. Similarly, Airtel Xstream carries 41 Tamil channels while JioTV has 61 channels. The difference is almost two fold in most language categories.

Tata Sky has its very own app for consumers to catch the live TV channels and it is a direct competition for JioTV. While JioTV has the largest number of channels available for an OTT app in India, Tata Sky isn’t far behind. JioTV has 688 Live TV channels to offer to its subscribers while Tata Sky has more than 400. But one area where Tata Sky is topping JioTV is that it provides it channels on the web. This is something that JioTV has not done yet.
