Does Redmi Note 8 with flagship Snapdragon 865 SoC sound interesting; here’s what Xiaomi thinks

Redmi Note 8 is one of the best smartphones in the market right now. Since it is a budget smartphone, it comes with budget hardware as well. So, what if you could put a flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC inside the device. Well, Redmi Product Director Wang Teng is toying around with the idea. He posted the message on Weibo yesterday asking whether Redmi customers would like to get the processor of Redmi Note 8 replaced with Snapdragon 865 for RMB 2,698 (around Rs 29,100).

A lot of Redmi customers in China were sold on the idea and offered overwhelming response. Most of them said they would like such a smartphone. In other words, a Redmi Note 8 with Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 is an instant hit among Chinese customers. However, it is easier said than done. Wang Teng went on to explain that even if they replace the processor of Redmi Note 8 with Snapdragon 865, the company won’t sell it for RMB 2,699. He estimates the right price for such a device would be RMB 2,499 (around Rs 27,000).

He also added that this product is not compatible with flagship specifications. The idea behind this exercise was not particularly to replace the processor of Redmi Note 8. It was instead meant to show how Redmi reached the price point of K30 Pro flagship smartphone. He explained that Redmi K30 Pro adheres to the cost performance, reports MyDrivers. Teng added that the company makes reservations even if any aspect of the device adds to the cost and affects user experience.
