Samsung’s fingerprint supplier Goodix recently revealed that the fingerprint sensor used on the Galaxy A71 5G is the same one put on the OnePlus 8 and the Huawei P40. The Samsung Galaxy A71 5G is the first Samsung phone for which Goodix is manufacturing an in-display optical fingerprint sensor. The companies have however collaborated on capacitive sensors before.
The fact that a relatively cheaper device like the A71 5G will feature the fingerprint sensor used on flagships as the OnePlus 8 speaks of a good partnership between Samsung and Goodix. This also means that the A71 5G might not be the only device to use the sensor. We may soon see more Samsung phones with the sensor. Moreover, this also speaks well for the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 20 series.

The presence of the same fingerprint sensor could mean that the Samsung Galaxy A71 5G technically features the same snappy unlock speed of the OnePlus 8. However, bulky transition effects and a custom One UI lock screen may get in the way of that.
Apart from the new fingerprint sensor, Goodix is also helping the phone with a new ‘premium voice experience’. The Galaxy A71 5G will apparently take advantage of its voice calling enhancement solution that will deliver a premium voice experience when making phone calls in noisy conditions.
Samsung Galaxy A71 5G specifications
The 5G model of the Galaxy A71 5G is not expected to differ much from the standard model. The official render of the device and price has been leaked by tipster Evan Blass. The leaks claim that the Galaxy A71 5G will be made available for RMB 3,500 (around Rs 37,500) in China. However, the prices are expected to differ in other markets.
At RMB 3,500, the phone will have tough competition from devices like the Redmi K30 5G and Redmi K30 Pro 5G. The leaked render suggests that it will be available in Blue, Black and White colors. The leaked price is for the variant with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage. We might also see a more affordable model with 6GB of RAM and 128GB storage. The Galaxy A71 5G will come equipped with Samsung Exynos 980 processor.
