Mi 11 with 12GB of RAM and Snapdragon 888 to launch on 28 December: Report

The next generation of flagships in the Mi lineup is set to launch next week the company confirmed via a post on Weibo. The Mi 11 will be launched on 28 December which has already been confirmed as the first smartphone under the Mi brand to receive the Snapdragon 888 SoC.

This Mi series has always been crucial for Xiaomi and we can expect the device to make its way to Indian shores in the coming days. It is also believed that the Mi 11 will be launched alongside the Mi 11 Pro which will sport better specifications compared to its sister device. Both phones are set to receive a similar design, curved screen and a glass back protected by Gorilla Glass.

Mi 11 launch details

The official Weibo post puts the Xiaomi Mi 11 launch at 7:30 PM CET (5 PM IST) on 28 December. Xiaomi has not yet need able to confirm whether the Pro variant in the series will be launched on the same day. Also, the global debut of the Mi 11 is yet to be announced. It is estimated that the new Mi 11 series will reach global markets by early 2021.

Mi 11 rumored specifications

It was at this year’s Qualcomm Tech Summit that Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun announced that the Mi 11 will be the company’s first phone to be powered by the Snapdragon 888 SoC. Apart from that, the company has not revealed much. Rumors tout the Mi 11 to come with a 6-inch QHD+ AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. It is also rumored to come with a triple rear camera setup at the back with a 108-megapixel primary sensor at the helm of it all. It is also expected to house a 13-megapixel ultra-wide-angle snapper and a 5-megapixel telephoto lens.

The Mi 11 was earlier spotted on Geekbench where the listing showed that the device is packing 12GB of RAM and is running on Android 11. It is also speculated that graphics processing will be taken care of by an Adreno 660 GPU.

The company is likely to retain the punch-hole camera design philosophy on the Mi 11. Multiple leaks also suggest that the Mi 11 will pack a 2,390mAh battery bundled with 55W fast-charging technology.
