Are you planning a trip abroad and don’t want to rely on free Wi-Fi that you get in a hotel, cafes and malls? Well, you can activate international roaming on your phone number and enjoy voice and data services like you do in your home country. Vodafone, Airtel and Idea Cellular all offer international roaming plans, and earlier this year, Reliance Jio also introduced a range international roaming plans, both for prepaid and post users. There are four plans to choose from, and a pay-as-you-go plan as well, with attractive rates.
If you have a Reliance Jio number and want to use it abroad, you’ll first need to activate international roaming service on your number. You can do that by calling the customer care number or from the MyJio app. Now, let’s look at the available plans and their benefits.

The plan perfect for users who are going on a long trip. Similar to other plans, a total of 20 countries are covered.
Pay-as-you-go-plan
This is one of the interesting offering from Reliance Jio which also gives the telco an edge over the competition. In case of Vodafone, Idea Cellular and Airtel, the outgoing calls and data rates are quite high for the base plan. However, Jio is offering a 2-2-2 rates, which means voice calls will be charged at Rs 2 per minute, data at Rs 2 per MB and SMS at Rs 2 per message. To avail the plan, you need to activate one of the international roaming plans once. Next, the charges will be deducted from your prepaid account balance, or will be added to your bill for postpaid users.
